Schools trust Skulink with information about children. It is built so that each school's records stay its own, and each person sees only what their role needs.
Kept apart, by design
- Each school's records are stored separately from every other school's.
- Access is decided on Skulink's servers, never on the phone or computer: a teacher sees their classes, a parent their own children.
- The school decides which duties carry which permissions.
Signing in safely
- Sign-in by password, Google, or a code by text or email.
- A new device is confirmed with a code before a password is accepted, and the account is emailed about it.
- Administrators can turn on two-step sign-in with an authenticator app.
- Sessions end after four hours.
Records you can account for
- An activity history of what changed and who changed it.
- Continuous backups with 30-day point-in-time recovery, plus a nightly copy kept for 90 days.
- Under the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019, the school is the data controller and Skulink the data processor.

- Is our school's data private?
- Yes. Every school's records are kept apart, and every person sees only what their role allows: a teacher their classes, a parent their own children. Access is enforced on Skulink's servers, not on the phone or computer.
- Does Skulink comply with the Kenya Data Protection Act?
- Skulink processes school records under the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019. The school is the data controller for its learners', parents' and staff's information, and Skulink is the data processor, acting only on the school's instructions. See the privacy policy for details.
- Is our data backed up?
- Yes. Each school's records can be recovered to any point in the last 30 days, and a copy is taken every night and kept for 90 days.
- What happens to our data if we stop using Skulink?
- The records are the school's. When a school leaves, its account is archived: nobody can sign in, but nothing is deleted. Everything stays for 90 days, and a school that returns in that time picks up where it left off; it can ask for an export at any time before then. After 90 days everything is deleted for good, and only Skulink's record of what the school paid is kept.
